About Us

West Thurrock Chapel is an independent evangelical church. The Chapel was founded in around 1880 and the current building was opened in 1962 with the same desire to share the unchanging message of God's love as shown to us in Jesus Christ with whoever is willing to hear.

We are a local church with most of our congregation living in West Thurrock, South Stifford, Grays and Purfleet. We do not have paid ministers but the Chapel is run by a small Leadership Team. Sunday Services are conducted by members of the Chapel and visiting speakers. We meet for prayer on Monday evenings (on Tuesday if the Monday is a Bank Holiday) and have a coffee morning and discussion on most Wednesdays.

We are partners in the gospel with our friends at St Clement's Church and have a joint prayer meeting with them once a month.

We support several missionaries and Christian organisations in the UK and other countries (see "Our friends").
