What we believe

We believe that God made the world and loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. We want others to know and believe that too.

More formally the Chapel Trust Deed of 1909 sets out the following basis of belief:

  1. The unity of the Godhead, and the doctrine of the Trinity
  2. Inspiration and infallibility of all Holy Scripture as originally given.
  3. Man's ruin by the fall as taught in Holy Scripture.
  4. The sovereign love of God the Father to mankind.
  5. The propitiatory and substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Son of God and the justification of man by faith in the same.
  6. The regeneration by God the Holy Ghost of all who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Redeemer.
  7. The believer's sanctification and growth in grace by the active indwelling of the Holy Ghost and the priestly intercession of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  8. The eternal salvation of all who trust in Jesus Christ as their Redeemer and the hopeless perdition of all who reject Him as their Redeemer.
  9. The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and His universal and eternal reign.
  10. Baptism of believers by immersion, though not essential to salvation, is in accordance with the will of God as declared in Holy Scripture.
